Accessibility Statement
Philipps-Universität Marburg strives to provide barrier-free access to its website in compliance with the Hessian Equality for Disabled Persons Act (HessBGG) and the Hessian Directive on Barrier-Free Access to Information Technology (HVBIT), which is intended to enable the implementation of the Directive (EU) 2016/2102.
This declaration on digital barrier-free access applies to the mailing-list-server of Philipps-Universität Marburg which uses the software "Sympa" and is available at www.lists.uni-marburg.de.
Present State of Compatibility with Regulations
The regulations result from § 3 paragraphs 1 to 4 and § 4 of the HVBIT, which was issued on the basis of §14 of the HessBGG. The verification of compliance with the regulations is based on an Accessibility Review of Sympa on September 25, 2023 by The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Technology Services Accessibility Testing team, see Sympa Repository.
Non-Barrier-Free Content
Based on the review, this website, including its mobile web views, is partially compatible with the aforementioned regulations due to the following exceptions.
Incompatibility with HVBIT
The content listed below is inconsistent with Section 3 (1) of HVBIT and is not barrier-free for the following reasons:
- Not all rendered content is placed inside of container elements with appropriate landmarks
- Not all landmarks are uniquely labled
- Not all lables using the FOR attribute reference a form control
- Not all header cells in tables use the HEADERS attribute
- Menues open immediately on keyboard focus
- Clear visual focus indicator is missing
- On access of navigation menu the focus goes back to top bar
- Text fields miss clear labels
- Date picker in calendar is not keyboard accessible
- Largely enhanced text is cut off on the window margin
Explanation
The mailing-List-software "Sympa" is developed and maintained by a community of volunteers. It is widely used and permanently evolving. Changes and corrections have to be applied by the developers, possible corrections on our side are largely limited.
Measures
- The named problems are investigated by the Sympa-developers.
- Solutions will be implemented in the newest version of Sympa.
- The newest version of Sympa will be installed as soon as it is available for our System Environment.
- Local patches for immediate problems will be applied if possible.
